Board of Directors Approves Construction of the Second Phase

The Vancouver College Board of Directors voted unanimously on May 3, 2018 to proceed with the second phase of our campus redevelopment immediately following completion of the first phase, our new Middle School, Manrell Hall. This exciting decision provides a replacement for our ageing, seismically challenged buildings with a safe, leading edge learning environment.

The Board and Administration performed a comprehensive and thorough review of the architectural plans, fundraising progress, and the school's financial position before making this decision. The construction cost of the second phase is $22 Million of which 88% is fixed. Combined with the $21 Million for the first phase, the total project cost is $43 Million. In the meantime, Manrell Hall, opening on the 4th of September, is on schedule and within budget.

The second phase will commence with the demolition of the older buildings this fall. In their place will be a new Elementary School with its own gymnasium and learning commons, a Chapel, and Brothers Residence slated for completion by July 2020. The design of the new building preserves the historic Lannon Hall façade and original McCormack Hall door, iconic visuals associated with Vancouver College.

Our Next Century Campaign has raised $26 Million so far. Thank you to all who have contributed to our success. The Campaign will run until June 30, 2020, and Vancouver College will continue to solicit support from our community to raise the necessary funds to complete this extensive campus renewal project.

Semper Fidelis,

Edward Wright, Chair of the Board of Directors, Vancouver College Limited
